That kind of music just soothes the soul

Not so much blogging over here lately, by me, at least. Why? Not for lack of material.

The whole Malkin affair has been thoroughly covered elsewhere, and why waste the bandwidth on someone so totally evil and stupid. John Cole says it best:
I simply can not believe this is what the Republican party has become. I just can’t. It just makes me sick to think all those years of supporting this party, and this is what it has become. Even if you don’t like the S-Chip expansion, it is hard to deny what Republicans are- a bunch of bitter, nasty, petty, snarling, sneering, vicious thugs, peering through people’s windows so they can make fun of their misfortune. I’m registering Independent tomorrow.

GWBush wants to immunize telecom companies from damages for helping spy on Americans, because corporate profit is more important than the Constitution:
In separate votes along party lines, the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees approved bills that would require the government to get approval from a special intelligence court for blanket surveillance of targets overseas. Supporters say the legislation is needed to safeguard the rights of innocent U.S. citizens who may be caught up in such surveillance. President Bush walks from the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, Wednesday , Oct. 10, 2007, to make a statement to reporters. Bush said that he will not sign a new eavesdropping bill if it does not grant retroactive immunity to U.S. telecommunications companies that helped conduct electronic surveillance without court orders.

But in remarks before the committee votes, Bush warned that he would not sign the Democratic legislation unless it gives U.S. telecommunications firms retroactive immunity from lawsuits for lending assistance in counterterrorism investigations after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Of course, because they broke the law. THEY BROKE THE LAW! Both the administration, and the complaint telecom companies violated Federal law, and now must be protected.

And the Republican Presidential debate last night, sheesh! The Nine Dwarves spun and danced, and took Hilary's name in vain every 30 seconds. Romney sounded lika an android, Giuliani
said 9/11, and Thompson looked like, well, a sick man.

So I don't know, maybe I'm just out of sorts. Other great bloggers have done fine work this week, but for a few days now, I just haven't had the inspiration.

Sometimes nothing but Bach can sooth the soul. And no one plays Bach better than Christopher Parkening:
