Shouldve realised you know what I know

I have major issues with lies and liars - All the way from so-called 'little white lies' up to egregious canards, the whole gamut of prevarication sickens me.

There are myriad reasons for this: As a parent, I endeavor to raise my children as I was raised...to be factual and take the narrower high road in order to develop and enhance one's character, avoiding the cheap allure of a convenient fib told out of shame.

As a person who lives by my word and wishes to be deemed worthy of respect among the circles of society which I travel in, the surest route to a perception of facetious dilettantism on my part would be deliberately self-serving misstatements of fact which any thinking person could easily check and disprove at the expense of my reputation.

And as someone who greatly values honesty in my relationships there is nothing more worthless than deceit, whether offhandedly casual or a more studied maliciousness.
My first marriage lies in a mouldering grave over such calumny.

Now, I have known that open candor and factual discourse on the issues has not been a reliable companion of the Bush administration for quite some time, and thus I cannot profess to be too shocked by the latest revelations regarding their batting average with the truth, but I must say I am impressed with their consistent attempts at mendacity.

They never tell the truth if they can help it...A veritable forest of mendacious mirrors, created for the most base reasons and adhered to brazenly and insouciantly with the whole world watching.

Unfortunately for a well-worn excuse, I don't accept the premise that society needs to be protected from the common truth by its leaders.
Too often and too easily, this excuse is used by advocates of the status quo to cover up unpleasant realities and maintain power and a series of fictions at a greater civilization's expense.

And thus, if there is one lesson I can impart to my American friends and to the world at large, one small bit of wisdom to share without an assignation of scorn or belittlement, it is this:

Liars always lie.
Don't believe them.
Never trust them.
And truth is the best disinfectant for the virus they harbor.

Bush astounds activists, supports human rights

President Bush implored the United Nations on Tuesday to recommit itself to restoring human decency by liberating oppressed people and ending famine and disease.

Bush didn't mention the U.S. prisons in Afghanistan or at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay, the U.S. practice of holding detainees for years without legal charges or access to lawyers, or the CIA's "rendition" kidnappings of suspects abroad, all issues of concern to human rights activists around the world.

The nerve of the war criminal Bush and his most excellent war that has unleashed the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse on Iraq:
War - Lies about WMDs, lies about not choosing his most excellent war.
Famine - In an oil rich country.
Pestilence - Cholera outbreak in Iraq spreading.
Death - more civilian deaths in the 4.5 years of Mr. Bush's most excellent war than Saddam perpetrated in 24 years.

But all would be forgiven* if our Fearful Leader and his Enablers (R-IMNOTGAY et al) weren't also deadbeat dads with their UN dues.


* Yeah, I lied, I can never forgive or forget Bush et al for starting this war, continuing this war and refusing to stop this war.

Boy, you're gonna carry that weight a long time

With apologies to the Beatles, I offer this silly song parody as we wave goodbye to Bush's right-hand snake:

The long and slimy Rove
That creeps out the door
The damage has been done

With tax cuts for the rich

Well, not the best I've ever done, but that's a hard song to make lyrics fit to keep with the spirit of the tune.

Anyway, I doubt we've heard the last of this slime bucket. His ability to pull out his bag of dirty tricks and smoke and mirrors to get a boob like Bush into the White House for 8 years makes him someone to be sought after on the right, even if done covertly. If it wasn't all so evil, one would have to marvel at his skill and ability to use fear-mongering, liberal-bashing, flag-waving, decoy issue games and utter bold lies to bring about tax cuts for the wealthy and somehow make people think a war against imaginary Iraqi al-Qaeda members stockpiling their imaginary weapons of mass destruction will all be paid for by imaginary Iraqi money as the Iraqi people gratefully showered our soldiers with imaginary roses.

And in pulling this off, he managed to silence any critics with the threat of calling them traitors for providing "aid and comfort" to the enemy and not supporting the troops, which apparently can only be done so blindly.

Even as more and more of the truth comes out to the reality of our frightening predicament - trapped in a modern day Viet-Nam, in debt to China up to our eyeballs to pay for the war and tax cuts, a huge trade deficit, porous borders where terrorists could ride on a procession of elephants to come in, warrantless wiretapping and spying on us - we still hear Bush and his radio spin meisters like Rush and Sean desperately still sticking with the less and less believable dot connecting of Iraq and the 9/11 bombers to try to justify it all. Saying that fighting the war in Iraq is protecting us from terrorists hurting us is like me saying I'll protect you from burglars by fighting burglars several counties away from you, while leaving the door to your house wide open and unguarded. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but then again, what about this administration does? Unless you happen to be a defense contractor, oil executive, war profiteer, corporate CEO, then it all makes PERFECT sense.

I could go on and on about how badly this administration - and Karl Rove - has hurt this country, the effects of which will be felt for a very, very long time, but I have a feeling I'm just preaching to the choir.

History will not be kind to Karl Rove. But, I highly doubt he, or any of those who enriched themselves on the blood of so many people, would really care in the long run. Like all thieves, there comes the point where it's time to take the money and run. Or, as in Karl's case, slither..

Bush Treated for Lyin' Disease. Recovery in Doubt

Washington, DC - President Bush has Lyin' disease and the White House kept it secret claiming it wasn't worth reporting.

It was revealed only when the White House made public all the results of Bush's annual physical exam on Wednesday. It showed up in the "past medical history" section .

"The president has been a victim of this condition for quite some time", said his personal physician, who requested anonymity, Dr. Walter L. Andrews "It's not something he really likes to discuss."

Lyin' disease is a tick-borne infection (scientific name Cheneycephalus sanguineus, also called the "Dick Tick") that, if left untreated, can cause difficulty with concepts such as truth, facts and reality. Symptoms can include problems with speaking coherently, a deer-in-the-headlights stare, loss of sincerity, sudden outbursts of blatant stupidity and, of course, an almost chilling ability to tell outrageous whoppers with a straight face. A bacterial disease, it can be eradicated with antibiotic treatment in the early stages, but can become more complicated to treat if not caught early.

With that, the question was brought up as to how early did the doctors feel they had caught the problem. Dr. Andrews wasn't hopeful.

"Unfortunately, if his latest press conference was any indication, he is far beyond the reach of even the most powerful antibiotic available today."

The doctor added, "I mean, for him to counter the question of a need to rebuild our infrastructure with more corporate tax cuts and the war in Iraq actually protecting us from terrorists ... well, my own conclusion would have to be this president is terminal."
